Got the starter off, the starter was cracked all the way around.
This is what it looked like but not going up but around the base.

It was also a little wider crack than that.
It was a pretty big crack too, So I would assume its time to get a new one asap.
No maybe no most likely but a definite yes!

Ya for sure. That is toast. By the way dont let them screw you on a core. I was told I would get no core credit for a broken nose cone like you have. I argued, told them to call their supplier and I received core credit.

Thought so, I took it off looked at it, didn't see the crack washed my hands off and picked it up and looked at it very carefully and saw that crack I was like never mind I don't need it checked, Its done for.
Surprisingly they told me they would only take like 5 to 10 off the core.
So I mean not bad, I am still trying to find a cheaper one.
But I am sure 69 is the best I am going to find.

Man that is outrageous. I just cant see paying that for a standard old sbc starter. I get deals from a parts store because I worked there and am still friends with the employees. I paid 20. Theres got to be a place that is 30 or 40. I dunno, if you have to pay 69 that totally sucks.

3510 is the part number at AZ. Tell them that you saw it online for 35.00. The'll match it.

Yeah it is cause I don't have that much, But I am going to just do what Bill said to do and tell them to price match the part#.
But If they cant for any reason I will just keep searching for a better and lower price.

You said you have an oreily's. Have you checked them out? The price at my local AZ is only 35 after the core.

That's what Bill showed me as well, They told me the only one I could get was the 69$ one, But now I am going to give them the product# and tell them that's the one I need.

I tried oreily's theirs was about the same price.
So I am just going to go get that one tomorrow.
