Id say if it was working before the alt change, start there. Loose wire? Loose plug ect. Check the wires associated with the charging system. Ive seen wires get hot and melt together. Keep it simple, push in all the fuses in the block ect..

I had a 540 cranking amp battery before
And now I have a 690 cranking amp battery which alternator do y’all recommend
Unless you are running a high compression engine, or living where it gets really cold the CCA of a battery is of little importance when selecting an alternator. Get the highest amp alt you can afford.

Chrome don't get ya home. Get the biggest alternator you can fit. Don't bother messing with A-zone; go find a local starter/alternator/electric motor shop near you.

They can also bench test it for maximum output. Have run into several 100 amp alts that would only put out 60
