Battery tray?

I am having a problem trying to find information on weather or not there was a metal battery tray on under the battery. or does the battery in a 1985 Pontiac Grand Prix just sit on the plastic fender well on the passenger side. I have a battery tray that I found at the junk yard but I cant for the life of me see how it would fit in the space that is where the battery would fit. Please anyone that has any info on this, would you please give me some insight if you have incountered this issue before. thank you so much in advance.

I have 4 grand prixs and the battery always sat on the plastic fenderwell, not a metal tray.

Geesh I wish mine sat on a plastic fenderwell. The battery tray is the only rusty spot on the whole car! (thinking of doing a frame-off rotisserie battery tray resto)
