Been holding out on you guys

The BMV raised their price by a dollar then sends me back the app for lost title asking for $1 money order and said I didn't meet the stipulation of sending certified mail to the dead person (who cant possibly sign for it.) Should have never applied for this title. Word to the wise just part them out guys.

Will re-apply 1x but if I hit more red tape I guess I'll just take the rocket tail lights for me and part it out. Doors were not good but other panels were dent free! It's a 'plane jane' cutlass so is worth more as parts anyway lol. I just wanted to drive it when I saw how nice it runs. Too bad the 307 would be a tough sell but maybe I'll come across a regal / toronado owner who wants to stay original who knows.

Don't fret, my DMV is similar. I had to send a certified letter with an appeal to have them sign something to the last known address of the owner too. What they want to see is it come back -returned to sender, unknown, moved left no address, undeliverable, etc. The PO will endorse it as so, and you then send it to DMV so they know you tried your best to contact the prior owner. That is how it worked for me as the owner had died and his ******** son endorsed the title with "power of attorney for" his dad, thereby voiding the title. Bottom line- never buy a car from a dead guy!!!

In my case, the son was the POA and lived in California. NY wanted him to travel here and apply for a new title. NOT happening. Luckily the owner had lived in the zip code I worked in, and I made sure the mailman marked it up as DECEASED. That did it.

I knew Steve personally but not very well; but he had plenty of time to inherit this car or the 79 Ted Nugent style Bronco w 351 M right next to it to his son if that was what he wanted to do. It was strange how a casual conversation we had in passing caused me to acquire the car, but to make a long story short Steve got disgusted when he allowed his son to move back in and witnessed a level of alcoholism he didnt realize previously existed. One of the last things he asked was for the car to be handed over to me and 'saved' from his own son's madness. I was fully intending to follow through on this man's dying wishes without passing judgement. I never met the son and hear he is not a 'bad' guy, but clearly one of Steve's last dying wishes was that his son not receive this car for some reason so I was going to respect that. If I found out my son drank nearly a gallon of alcohol every few days with no effort to visit rehab I think I would also give my cars away, crawl in bed and stop eating too. I was always of the opinion that a piece of a person remains in the car they loved most, if not all the cars they own. If I have to part the car out it won't bother me because Steve would have rather seen it be parted out than his son crash in it. The lesser of two evils was clear.

Worst case scenario I still have this 88 chilling in the refrigerator so stay tuned. Still mad 5 years later to this day that the towing company let the amber turn signal lamp fall off the car and told me about it but they didn't pick it up or even try to replace it. Then they let the other car bottom out when they dropped it off the truck and it messed up the brand new paintjob in 1 spot. Never towing cars without being present physically again.

That 88 looks real nice but the little guy looks bored... 🙂

is that your Rolls in front of the Olds?

I had hoped it would one day become mine but it looks like the family needs us to sell it off to benefit the estate. My grandpa restored it w paperwork and then drove it 1 time. It's a shame he spent more than the car actually books for in this condition. It's also a shame that the tow company smacked a panel as they were putting it down so b/c of them we can't even say its '100% mint' but its like 95% of the way to being a show car it just needs a visit to really good body shop and thats it to be a perfect example of the car. It would probably ride nicer than any of the other cars we are driving right now but we just don't want to put any miles on it and chance any further mishaps. The newer style radio looks bad its g2g too but the original is still w/ the car in trunk. The seats are OEM style but reupholstered. Would love to keep this car but can't afford to garage it up like it deserves.
