Im wondering,
Is there any way to rout a serpentine belt around the crank, power steering, alternator, tensioner, idler, ac delete, idler and back to the crank to bypass the waterpump all together and run an electric water pump on sbc v8? I have a serpentine from a 91 chev truck on my 406 in my 86 monte ss with a hi vol water pump.
Want to upgrade to a 35 gpm electric waterpump and would like to keep the serpentine if i can, or do i have to go to the v belt setup
(which i threw all of into the steel bin when i installed the serpentine)

That's exactly what i was wondering about. Do you have the belt size?
I see theres no lower rad hose. Is it up and running now. Any problems with belt slippage?

That setup looks good initially but It will have belt squeal equal to or greater than v belts.

Thanks pontiacgp

That is just a picture I found online to answer your question about belt routing. I don't know the length of the belt but that is easily measured and I don't know about splippage

Thanks again ive been digging all day to find more info on that.
That pic is from june 2 2011 and no more info on it about how it worked, the fellows last activity was in 2011 aswell. Guess im just going to have to try it.

Ran it yesterday. Works like a charm!! 71" belt and no problems with slip or squeel. Feels alot more snappy aswell

Happy with it. Thanks
