Was thinking about getting these flamethrower parts? Or would matching msd parts be better
MSD Ignition Street Fire Ignition CoilPart #5525

PerTronix Flame-Thrower HEI and TFI Ignition Coils D3001

PerTronix Flame-Thrower Ignition Modules D2001

I bought a PerTronix Flame-Thrower complete distributor back in 2004 and it's still going strong, good spark. It comes with 3 sets of springs and lighter weights so you can tailor it to open up sooner to match your RPM power band and it made a big difference for my setup.

I messed up thinking I had the coil with my purchase. But I have the msd distributor cap and rotor. Now I have to many options on what to use for a coil and ignition module. I hear good things about the pertronixs. But I don'
Want to give up my new msd stuff. So Would mixing brands matter? Or stick with msd brands only for those items

I think it doesn't really matter if you have an MSD cap and rotor with a PerTronix module. They're both good names and i've mismatched distributor parts before. Any aftermarket stuff will always be better than over the counter Pep boys chinese crap.

I've never really bought into the "hot" ignition products (can you say "E3 spark plugs"?). Unless you have a full-tilt boogie race car, most replacement parts will work just fine with the exception being HEI modules. I'm talking plugs, wires, coil, etc.... The biggest tip I can give is that if you're running a capacitive discharge ignition box, the solid brass coil button is a must; the carbon buttons will heat up and melt the surrounding plastic.
