I have sbc promaxx heads and felpro 1205 intake gaskets and a Edelbrock air gap intake, what are good intake manifold bolts to use and what are the torque specs for the intake bolts? Thanks

I like the arp bolts with the small heads. You need to be careful with intake bolts I believe the center 4 if too long can hit the pushrods.

I use ARP stainless 3/8" head with either 6 or 12 point heads, 12 points work better in tight spots IMO.

Any Grade 5 or 8, 3/8 - 16 NC of proper length will do, most will keep at grade 8. In the past I used header bolts, hex head, Allen head, Torx. Depends on look look you are going for.

Have used both ARP products and conventional fasteners. As noted it all depends on what "finish" you are looking for. I personally would not go any stronger than Grade 5 as a strength factor if you elect to go generic. Reason? Should you snap a Grade 5, it can be extracted fairly easily. Grade 8 and better are by definition, hard, and it takes special drill bits to deal with them.

Yeah, the Grade 5's are softer but you are not going to get anywhere near the limits of a grade 5 capscrew when you use it as an intake fastener. If you do still feel uncomfortable about using them, then go ARP. They offer kits of bolts for intakes and those bolts come in various head configurations and finishes. If you are willing to pay per each, they even offer bolt kits of various lengths with no specific application, just for dress up purposes.

All that said, personally, I like the ARP items, but that is JUst me,

Nick
