best motoroil?

what would be the best motor oil for my 1985 cutlass salon w/ a 350 in it it has a cam thanks

Any good brand of coventional oil will be fine. But with any HiPo engine you have to stay regular changing it every 3000 miles.

I've allways used Castrol GTX High Mileage. It's not to expensive at Wal*Mart and it has burn off protection. My dad ran nothing but Castrol in his 87 Cutlass in the 16 years he owned it. (bought it new in 88) He managed to pull 276,*** miles out of his 307.

pennzoil hasnt been junk since ages ago, years and years ago pennzoil was a waxed based oil, thats why it sucked, now its the same as everything else, any oil is good, they all have to meet a certin standard, and all are pretty much owened by the same people theres a few big companys that own most the brands, some just have a little different cleaning propertys in them then others such as synthetics, its still oil,just man made with better cleaning properties then conventional and costs alot, mainly i use castrol and valvoline but sometimes i change brands it really doesnt matter on brand really what you want to do is look at the little star thing on the back or front of the bottle it should have an SM or SJ or SL the higher the letter after the S the better the oil.

I run 15w40 in my hurst all stock with the 307HO

I catch flack for it, but I run 15w-40 rotella-t. My motor guru's tell me there are only a few oils that are non-synthetic that have the zinc and magnesium that a flat tappet cam needs. rotella-t, castrol high mileage, and one particular am-zoil. Could be wrong but works good for me, added the comp cam break-in lube in 1st two oil changes and Zddplus additive. I was running Rotell but last I heard thei zinc package got reduced too.
