I don't know why anyone would want to put a big block chevy in a monte. :rofl:

Heres a link to my blog on putting "A" body headers in my Monte;
http://guysmontess.blogspot.ca/2011/10/ ... -body.html
If I was doing it again I wouldnt use the 2 inch tube or Hooker headers.The Hooker's hang low,which I didnt know at the time.Hedmans are supposed to be better,and a 1 7/8 or 1 3/4 primary tube would probably be a better choice for most big blocks,and they would fit easier and probably give more clearance between them and the road.This is particularly important if you lower your car any,like I did in the front of mine,and now the pipes scrape on bad roads.Mine has a 4 core rad,5 blade fan,HD clutch fan,Milodon High Volume water pump and a 180 degree thermostat,never overheats.I'm not sure what it has for front springs,but they are pretty stiff.The extra weight may be an issue if you were looking to be competetive in any autocross racing for example,but mine sure handles good,I know it would run circles around a stock Monte,thanks to the front end goodies from SC&C.If you gear it right,good fuel mileage isnt out of the question.I have got a best of 17 mpg on the highway,not too shabby for 550 HP 😀

Actually f body headers from the early 70's work better than the g body ones.
I believe you mean the early 70s A bodies not F bodies. Alot of people have gone with the Hooker 2245s to save money instead of paying the rediculous $550+ for Gbody headers.

i thought it was f body but i could be wrong, a local guy who builds bbc gbodies told me he uses f body headers but has to zip a ear corner off the upper a arm to fit em perfectly

Hmm. That may be true but I have never heard of that. That opens up more options for my swap.

ill have to call him an find out which one exactly he used.. it was a dougs brand i know
When you do see if he remembers a part number that would help. Thanks

I think you will find that one part # fits full size BelAir type Chevys,F Body Camaro's and A Body Chevelles.at least the Hooker # 2455's do;

I would not recommend them as they hang too low,I wish I had of used something else on mine.

Definitely a good idea I did the swap last summer didnt no about the f body or older Chevelle headers so I used the gbody swap hookers which ended up about 8 in change there tricky to install I also used a 700 r4 trans and used a 3400 cfl fan single and a 3 core alum rad car stays around 140 when sitting for a while hits 180 190 then fan kicks on and straightens it out the bbc swap is mean making over 400 ft lbs to the rear wheels and 350 hp which I would have liked a little more hp to the rear wheels but have cast ported heads right now.
