I found some big tube headers on craigslist that are for g-bodys .I want to run them on my stock 350 with the additon of holley carb and rpm intake my queston is there 1 7/8 by 3 1/2 will these be to big for my ride ,will I lose that much back pressure to notice a effect?Ive read, alot of people stick to 1 5/8 tubes on stock engines, the ride there going on will be a crusier/daily in the summer, never any track time. But on another note in a year I wanna pull engine to do a 383 if they will work for that should I run them anyway now so i will already have them in an exhuast ran when the time comes. Thanks for any info and opinions on this matter...D.J.

I would skip on those and get either 1 5/8ths or 1 1/2 tube size. With the ones your talking about the torque gains you get from having full length are lost by having too big of primaries, you'll have no back pressure and have to fight more to get them in. for a stock engine i think even 1 5/8ths would be too big, theres a lot more behind them then people think. Generally without choking the engine, the smaller the primaries the better for torque, the larger the primaries the better for HP. Another thing to take into account is the shorter the primaries the better for HP, the longer the primaries the better for torque. A nice set of full length 1 5/8ths i think would be the best for you if your really planning to do a 383 in a year but usually itll turn into two or three years and by then you;ll need new ones lol. for better performance now i would go with 1 1/2 full lengths and then you wont have to use a reducer to run 2 1/2in exhaust and you'll have a good set up.
