getting closer to wat i want, gotta see how the pedal woulb be with an under car setup, this elec looks good even on the firewall though, cause no booster but still power brakes

just got off the phone with ABS... they discounted their setup for now and actually have a reverse 90 bracket that may work... i think im going to go buy it on saturday and see if it will fit, or if it can be modified... if not they said they can make one for me, once i mock it up and in that case, they would not charge me for the original bracket... anyhow the price right now for their complete electric setup is 1150, the price for the bracket is around 175, depending on what they have to do to get it to work... i am determined to get this done and am working hard as hell, all this on a working mans salary is crazy, but my 2 kids are growing fast, and I want to enjoy life with them... and watch them grow... gotta get this car close, so i can work on my daughters, then we can all cruise the shows, or run down the strip as a family...

GBodyVet, PontiacGP, BruceCompton what do you guys think about that setup... I would be able to clean the firewall off almost completely... and still have amazing brakes... 4 wheel disk too

not to hijack the thread but I have some experience with manual brakes.... we don't use power brakes on the race car and the pressure you put on the brake pedal is only slightly heavier. We have stock callipers and rear brakes on the camaro and we also did it on a G body that had a weight of 3250 running at another track. When we took the booster out of the G body it was a 15 yo kid driving the car and he was on the small side. He said he didn't find any problems with the brakes. The advantage of non power brakes is you have a better feel of the brakes and you can modulate them much better. I'm planning on taking the booster out of my GP this winter and run manual 4 wheel disk.
do you have to pump them up every time to go to stop and is this practical for a car that will be driven on the street also? cause my son will only be able to drive on the track... but we will be taking it around and to shows etc too... he is pretty young to say the least and this will be his first car when he can legally drive (although, i will be getting him a bucket to drive everyday)... for now, i just want to enjoy the car and doing things with the family...

my overall goal is to get it track ready... start going to the track with the fam now... by the time he turns 16 in 5 years, he will be racing it himself, I have another project going for myself... for now, I am getting all the major stuff out of the way, etc.

there is no pumping needed...they work the same as any other brake. We use a manual brake master that is supposed to be a performance one but it's identical to a chrysler manual brake master...it's small and light but it does the job

ok, if i cant get this electric setup (cause of money, fitment or whatever) more than likely, im going to go this route

The manual masters have larger pistons and when you think of the leverage of the brake pedal with the small brake lines the amount of pressure you need isn't that much. No disrespect to the ladies but they are the reason power brakes came into existence. I'm sure you will be pleasantly surprised if you do go to manual brakes. Up till 85 I think the s-10 still had manual brakes

I'm in the same boat. My daughter just moved in with me and I still pay support for my 2 boys. My daughter is more mechanically inclined too!

My advice to you is decide what you want to compromise to get this accomplished. Is spending that much worth it for a cosmetic purpose? Is time away from family worth giving this 110% of your time and attention? Could that money be spent better elsewhere on the car? Just a few other things to consider.

I've had to make a lot of choices myself regarding my build. Cost vs benefit vs my impatience! I've been weeding out necessities from options. But anyway....that's just my take on it.

just in case you didn't think of this: With hydroboost, If your power steering belt happens to go out or she quits running, you lose both steering AND braking assist. It's really fun.

the main reason and only reason I want to do this, is for a major performance upgrade...(which I am not really letting out the bag yet, cause dont wanna disapoint if i cant accomplish it in a timely manner)... but I really do need the room and I will have to at least move the master back to accomadate the space i need... secondary to that, if i can move it elsewhere, would be that much better, because it would actually clean up the engine compartment, along with hiding all wire etc... and my son would have a car to be reckoned with for his age and something to work on for years to come... again, hes only 10, im starting him out young, I grew up having a hard life, and was abandoned at age 11... been on my own since i was 15... my girl and boy are my life...

as far as money elsewhere, yes, in a way, cause i still need to do the shortened 9" rear end. wanna put 20x15 or 20x18s back there with a 31-35 spline rear end... doung as much of this car as i can do myself and with my limited salary, i will be trying to show what can be done, without spending an arm and a leg, so am trying to convert a junkyard rear, etc...
