Brakes shutting car down

Alarms are usually just starter kills.

I agree but I have seen some that if the car is started when the brake pedal is pressed the car will shut off. I have also seen that the drivers window has to be lowered half way to start the vehicle.

Tracing wires using my '81 diagrams, when the computer was chucked, what did you do with the pigtails & connectors? Where they cut & taped, left alone & just hanging out in the bulk head, harness removed all together? Since that pink/black wire is the main key hot circuit (39 feed ign. sw, "on & crank" controlled-fused), are you having issues with gauges, seat belt buzzer, dome light delay (if equipped), anything still pluged into the fuse box off the gauges fuse, have an ATO fuse type circuit breaker instead of a fuse, or that or a fuse higher than 20 amp. Next check the bigger pink wire that feeds that fused circuit (3 ign. sw, "on & crank" controled, unfused). This feeds power there & to the ignition switch (ign 1) where it picks up its power from the main red power wire (2 feed battery-unfused). Both the fuse box lead & ignition switch lead both tie into the pink HEI wire (still listed as circuit 3). If its electrical, the issue is there. Maliburacing.com should have wire diagrams to help guild you.
