Well been a long time to back up this thread but I still had problems but was still able to race. Lost oil pressure at the first practice run about 3/4 track. Tried a smaller spring and lost pressure at 2nd gear. Went home changed intake gasket because it started leaking after letting off at full power I guess and the .060 gasket was hard to get the bolts in. Talk to Jim W and he said put the long spring back in and add 1 QT of oil. After tech found rear of intake leaking oil. We didn't have no composite gaskets left and a stock valley pan doesn't clear the Kenne Bell Cool Runner Intake valley. My son and I cut the bottom of the valley pan out and trimmed the ports and left it to seal over night with GMS sealeant at front and rear and a slight rub over the whole gasket.
Left the car out all night and it was wet. Check the end seals and they were hard and dry. So dried the car off started it up and drove it around to warm it up and no leaks. We added 1 QT oil. I ran it 5000 RPM's in neutral for 12 seconds and the pressure stayed around 60 but jumped around. 1st round practice the gauge dropped at the finise of the 1/4 close to 40 so we added 1/2 Qt. It ran 11.05. In Open Comp the take your fastest run in practice and set your dial as .10 faster for the rest of the race so we was dialed 10.95. We took 110 lbs out of the trunk and went to the staging lanes. I cut a -.002 light and ran a 10.94 so we were right there but red lit. Bracket 2 was still open so we entered that class which is 1/8 mile. We ran a 6.87 in the 10.94 run and after watching the weather we dialed 6.87. The first light was .044 and after that it was .021 and down. Final round was .005 light to his .091 and I let off and still ran a 6.82 on a 6.84 dial. This car keeps going faster.
The next weekend, very cold, 3rd rd bracket race cut -.001 red and sunday added more weight to keep it at 10.90 for Super Street we got a practice run before the race and when I hit second it was like going to nuetral. Checked linkage and fluid level and drove it around and sometimes it goes into second and sometimes it feels like it's braking going into second and sometimes it won't shift at all. and the consenses is broken sprag. but what a great to weeks of racing for the first time all summer!
