Build A Hellcat Eater

I could give a sh*t about trying to match a 707hp car with a 30k mile warranty and ac with my 35 year old grandma mobile. I don't care. After you match a hellcat, what next? The chiron? The hennesey venom? There's no end to it. Build it for what you will use it for the most. It's not the 80s anymore. Hell, from what I've gathered from my years of reading vintage car magazines since I could read, from about the 50s to the 80s if your street machine had 400hp, you were king sh*t of **** mountain. Now a base v6 mustang makes 300hp. There's no point in trying to out perform modern cars anymore. It can be done, but it's not nearly as easy or cheap as it used to be. But, it is still satisfying to stomp Johnny ****boy in his fart can civic with a basic small block.

....Buy, build, DO whatever YOU LIKE with the means you have, be happy with it and what you have!!! Trying to keep up with the Jones!!??? WHO CARES!!! Because someone somewheres will have something nicer, better, faster than you, YOU WILL NEVER GET OFF THE UNHAPPY BANDWAGON and you will go broke trying!!! I'd rather go to a show and see a blood sweat and tear build with the ingenuity and creativity the owner put into it. How much of that went into driving to a dealership and handing over cash for whatever new speed demon electronic nightmare pile of @#$% that floats your boat!? N-O-N-E! Personally, I love my G bodies, its that simple. I get nothing out of seeing a new car, they may have *ss, but NO CLASS! My opinion, so don't try to argue with me, because I don't care, each their own! You may leave as many agree- love- and winner GIF's as you want though 🤣

Ahhh. Same arguments and disrespect that I saw 30 years ago with ‘69 Camaro/Mustang/Chevelle boys vs Grand National/IROC/GT boys. At the core people still just can’t stand each other or their income differences.

Or between a 403 and 455 Olds 😜
The 455 has plenty of bottom end failures, a few as bad as Macar1993's failure. The 350 is still the most reliable of the bunch. With the new reasonable price for Olds, billet 5140 and 4340 cranks that weigh the same as the 350 N cast crank, why not? Max safe bore on a good block means 434 ci. The 455 block is no better than 350 and throws a lot more weight around with big 3" bearings. Of course Nascar/Diesel and the Rocket Racing block are a different story. I agree start with a 6.2, a 4.8 or 5.3 is at a disadvantage.

Joe Mondello is laughing from the grave.

You won’t convince a guy running a 4.3” stroke, 2.5” rod journals, 3.25” main journals, and 5500+ rpm that a 455 can’t me made to live way cheaper than a billet crank..........I’ve done it with oil restrictors, correctly turned crank with the correct clearances and main studs on more than one Olds 455. Not that I’m against a stroker anything, including Olds 350.

The YouTube ‘turbo LS Westech’ guy has some great videos. If you shut the video off early you miss the fact that with cubic inch increase and with the same turbo, then boost decreases.........and the larger engine still thumps the smaller. Use the correct turbo on the large engine and bye bye. The cost of a 4.8 or 5.3 is appealing, and uninteresting to me at least. Bigger is better every time. Period. Again it’s about dollars.

I have a friend putting together a 5.3 with a forged rotating assembly, 243 heads and a set of billet VS 7875's and a 9". It's in a 5 gen camaro - expecting 1200whp by 15psi. I can't wait for him to get it done and see what happens.

This has the capability of running 7's
