Cam advice

The heads are off a mid 60s 327 I had that had been milled. Guess I should have mentioned they are closed chamber heads. I did some port work on them years back. Motor had a nonroller cam currently. I guess street/strip would be the best description of intended use though it won't be needed as a dd. I have a trans cooler from an 05 2500hd for it

Also aside from upgraded pushrods and "z28" springs valvetrain is stock

Go solid if it's a race car.

Go roller if you have the funds, you will never look back.

If it was a roller block I would. But I don't wanna pile too much cash into it as it will get replaced by a 454 in the next 6 months or so. Willing to put a Lil $ into it as when I drop in the 454 I'm planning on using the 350 in an s10

I'll chime in here, all my engine details are in my signature. I'm right at 10.8:1 compression with Iron Vortec heads which is really pushing it on pump gas. I'm running a comp cams Thumpr cam, full roller. I was 14 when I built the engine and was really just looking for a choppy idle, so I chose the Comp Cams Thumpr cam. When I rebuilt the engine I decided to stay with it, since it was still in really good shape. For being a camshaft designed primarily for sound characteristic it does really well with my combination. Really good low end torque, and it doesn't fall over, even at 6500 rpm. I've been very happy with it. I think if I had to do it different I'd probably do a camshaft with a little less overlap, and a little higher LSA. Anyway, here are the specs

Yeah I was a bit impressed myself at how the caprice ran considering it had 26" floaters and 2.41 gears lol

The cam mentioned by Cutty wouldn't be bad seeing your going to be under 5500 rpm in the 1/4 w/ the 3.50 gears and that would be 26in tires.
Would really like to know what the heads are - 2.02's, 194's, casting #'s, intake runners - could be good heads could be so so which would be a factor in where you want to make power. I'm a fan of some of these old heads and made great power with them.
