Melling 22233 2 degrees advanced.
My dynamic is 7.41@10:1 353ci.
comparison:
L46.engine 7.29@11:1
L79.engine 7.58@11:1
Hoping to play around with 89 octane using vortec heads. I know it seems low but I’ve gone for a ride in a l46/350 corvette and it does do a super job even with such a low dynamic. It did call for 94 octane. I’m not willing to run the ragged edge. It’s just a grocery getter. Im hoping it can pull a 2500rpm stall. I just saw the speed pro catalog and it says 2800-6000 kind of a bummer but it does sound nasty.

This would be a good replacement and an upgrade. We ran 13.10 with a junk 355 in a 69 camaro with a 4 speed and 3.73 gears.
Old school vs. new school. The Sealed Power cam has a nice long ramp whereas the Comp is very aggressive. Difference being lobe longevity. There will be virtually no difference in performance between the two.

Dynos don’t tell the whole story. They can’t tell you how an engine will perform with a given load, part throttle operation and the like. Don’t get me wrong I’ve had Isky megas and yes I was impressed and they seemed to be reliable enough. Actually they like to ping. On this build I just wanted the big cam rev and idle without the big cam headache. Not looking break records or parts. Just looking to have fun I think this cam is going to fit the bill just fine. Oh and I put 1.6 rockers on it too lol it sounds very rowdy and idles at 800

I'd love to hear a sound clip or a video of it running. My brother and I have searched all over and can't really find much information about any real world experience or any type of video of what the melling 22233 or its sealed power counterpart the CS122R sounds like. I know now that's what our old man had in his chevelle and I remember it being rowdy but that was close to 30 years ago when we were just getting into cars and didn't know a lot about that sorta thing. I imagine it was one of those grinds that was popular way back in the day but has fallen out of favor for being so old.

We are trying to re create as closely as possible they way he had the car and are curious as to what to expect sound wise. It too will be a 350 with right around 10:1 compression.
