Best camshaft for Chevy 305 lookin for a lopey sound

If your looking for lope and not power (...its a 305!) go with the Thumpr cams from Comp.

Seriously? Do yourself a favor and don't just throw in some big *ss lopey cam in your engine or you will be sorry. Select a cam that is RIGHT for your engine which will actually perform well and a nice sound will come with it.

You simply cannot choose a cam based solely off how you want it to sound and no cam can be recomended if you don't state anything about your build and what your goals are ( other than the sound ). Anyone can recommend an overly large obnoxious sounding lopey cam but it will perform like crap and you will be embarrased when some old lady blows the doors off of your overcammed 'hotrod' in her 4 banger Civic.

Its a 305 ... Dont waste ur energy unless all you want is sound ....
BUT u will not get a good lope with out duration and compression ...

Otherwise just go with a small duration cam and make sure it will work ok with your stock springs..
110LSA will sound best!!

Well I have a roller cam an lifters in now with 350 heads

350 heads would lower the compression on a 305 i would think. I know people put 305 heads on a 350 to bump there compression up a bit. The guys are right. some giant cam is just gonna embarrass you in a small bore like a 305. If sound is all you want go with one of the small thumpr cams. If they make one small enough. They are made to sound good and make power, just dont overdo it

Save yourself a bunch of time and money, pull the #1 and #6 plug wires. It will give you the same lope and probably still have more power than a "big" cam in a 305.

with out knowing anything about your motor i would say comp XE 262
but i had a nice build L69 some time back with a XE 268 and it ran great !!
