Just this weekend I cracked the bell housing on my 700R4. My dad said he think he is gonna be able to grab one out of an 87 Corvette. Right now it has one out of a 85 Camaro. I know I will have to swap tail shafts but other than that what is different about the Corvette 700's (internal and external.)?

Vette has a better servo. Should be identical on the outside. Confirm that the overall length is the same.

Vette tailhousing will have C beam mount holes, but should not be an issue

I'd be more concerned about WHY the bell cracked.

I honestly have no clue, I've seen cracked ones before but at the track in 500-600 HP cars. I just romped on the gas, it made a little ping and as I slowed down for a light I heard a phish phish phish sound. Looked under the car in the parking lot and sure enough it was cracked. Is the Vette transmission going to shift harder?
