There's multiple styles, can't make a decision.....some with dividers in the center, completely open, 4 seperate holes, some beveled edges.....am I overthinking on this?
Go with the open one. Most of us notch our RPM intakes to get plenum sharing. Your spacer will do exactly that. I added a 1" open spacer on my Performer to increase the plenum size and allow side to side sharing.

Guess I can make my mind up. 4 hole 1" spacer. Supposedly may increase low end torque? Just hope it doesn't hit the hood
It may, the RPM is 2" taller than the stock intake.

I have the Air Gap version, it comes from factory with the plenum already notched..

There is no Olds SB air gap version but most of us notch it like that. I makes sense if one side of the carb is a hair leaner or richer. Or if one side has a bit more fuel need due to ring seal or slightly more compression.

That was my understanding, and would accomplish the things they're saying... and keep you under the two inches so you can close your hood, to boot! :)

Sorry for the delay but I would get an open one, they sell them in 1/2" wood as well.

I bought an Edelbrock 1/2" wood spacer almost 20 years ago now. It's been on 5 different motors and still looks great

Look into a spacer set up like this one from Mr Gasket. I've been using the Qjet version for years.
