damn dust storms.

You can test the choke pull off - disconnect the vacuum hose from the front of it, push the plunger in, then cover the air hole that you just uncovered when you pulled off the hose. Let go of the plunger. It should stay in until you remove your finger.

You can disconnect the choke. The car will probably run crappy for a few minutes while it warms up, but then run fine; I've had mine off all summer.

Remove that screw right in the very top center of your picture and pop it loose. The screw is short so make sure you don't loose it. Try it and see if anything changes. If not, reconnect the choke.

I dont mind having it run rough for a few minutes, I usually let it idle for 10-15 minutes before I take off to work in the morning. Im going to try taking it off 🙂 thanks for the advice.

o yea i got ur 5 packs of spicey ketchup

LOL only 5!

Just remove the choke flap all together

Well, let's see if I can upload a pic.

To disconnect the choke, remove the screw in the red rectangle and pull off the fitting that is right behind it. The choke then will just stay open.

If you need to remove the choke pull-off, take out the two screws in the yellow rectangle

The screw is the one at the end of the choke shaft - it's a slot screw that retains the arm to the choke shaft.

I wouldn't do it this way, though. IMHO it's better to back off the choke thermostat so it doesn't close at all. To do this, you'll need to drill out the three rivets that retain the choke housing. In the old days, these were screws, but for emissions purposes they made these rivets later on.

Once you drill out the rivets completely you'll be able to remove the choke thermostat. This will allow the choke to fall open. You can drive this way in warm weather, but you'll have to pump it a bit to start.
