Dito Northernregal - Your cage is going to be your biggest bonus. As far as the UMI brace, the frame is pretty stout up there - the twisting happens behind.

How did you get the body mount in where you are closing it off?

Absolutely, the cage is the best way to add rigidity, and it will be in the future for me, as will a tie bar at the rear of the frame like 87National55 did.

My frame boxing was about $30 in material and took about 4 hours to do. My experience taught me to make sure you brace the frame somehow in front and behind the suspension cross member before you heat it. No matter how slow you think you are welding in the boxing it will heat warp slightly. Was a pain in the behind to bolt the body back onto the frame.

Honestly I think that is way overpriced for what it is. It's easy enough to weld a cross bar to factory jounce bars or make your own set up from scratch.

I agree that you can fabricate the bars for less than $200 but unless you have all the equipment to fabricate it like the UMI part their price seems reasonable to me.

I welded in bars to hold the frame in place while I welded and I still had to use straps to winch the boxed C channels in to get it bolted to the body.

Very nice finish on that frame. What does the rest of the car look like?

Here are a few photos.. added support to the rear upper and lower arms as well as a few bars for the notch.

My Lord,

Thats beautiful!!!!!! What an amazing job. I'm going to do the chassis boxing and prep for cage while the body is off and I am restoring the chassis. Great Ideas!
