Chevy 305-- high output?

I have a chevy 305 in my 1978 malibu. It's got 11k miles on a fresh engine rebuild with a weiand stealth intake and an edelbrock 4-barrel carb 600cfm. I want to beef it up a bit with some new heads, a new camshaft, and headers. I want it to be functional reliably on the street but also make some decent power. Now I realize that it's a small bore and has a hard time passing air and fuel through the engine because of the small size and don't expect it to put out much power. Anyways, wondering what some good and affordable combos are that I could look into.
