Have any of you seen Who Killed The Electric Car? It makes you think what is going to happen with alternatve fuel vehicles when the car manufactuers, government, and oil companies most likely have something to do with it. I am sure that no matter what cars will be run off of, someone will find a way to screw us and make millions but still save the environment. Everybodys way to greedy these days, and I think we will somehow end up payin for it no matter which direction they take.

I want to see that movie.

I've said it before, the big oil companies are in bed with the world guberments and they'll never let us off their drug (oil). end. period.

The thing is, something has to give now. We can't sustain these energy prices long-term, and I tend to be optimistic that private enterprise will probably find cheaper alternatives to oil-based energy. Hydrogen is a nightmare and I do not see fuel cells actually going anywhere, but I think some form of transportable, light weight storage medium will be used to store electricity. The air thing sounds good because the refueling time is not as bad as it is for batteries. Electricity is a very flexible thing, and can be generated in a number of ways, some of which require little to no pollution because they take advantage of natural processes.

Yeah... like the people... they have to give more at the pump. It will continue that way until the middle class is wiped out... that's where this is going unless regulations on gas prices are put in place.

And what's with the new Hybrid Yukon... it sports a 14/20mpg rating. How is that an improvement??

It's better than...Ummm...... a 1973 Buick Electra with a 455? I dunno, was the original worse than that?

I mean, a Diesel is probably better and without that useless, over-complicated hybrid powertrain that is certain to break down more than a Diesel.

I don't know what the mileage is on a 5.3 Tahoe. Probably 12mpg.

So how about that DOD technology? My 06 Monte SS only got 14mpg city... DOD was nothing more a high tech gizmo + marketing. A GM 'tornado'.

They are just selling the illusion of 'Green'. You want better mileage? Ride a bike!

I survived a crash doing 50 mph ( probably braked to 35 by impact) in a 1995 Nissan Sentra with nothing broken, and the passenger cabin intact. Even the doors all still opened and closed. It was an offset-frontal crash too, with the hit being driver's side front. The skid marks at the scene veered off at a 45 degree angle where I hit, and probably went on for another 10 feet after the point of impact. I had injuries that I still deal with today ( torn cartilage in my knee), but all in all I would consider it a very safe car. The Smart Fortwo scares me, but even it is considered a 3 star car by Euro-NCAP standards. The Tahoe, like pretty much all large SUV's is a ridiculous thing to drive unless you are towing a trailer or hauling a lot of people around. Otherwise, it is fuel thirsty, handles poorly, has poor visibility of smaller vehicles, and is difficult to park. Even the 4x4 version is not particularly good off road due to it's sheer size and weight, and it is an almost useless vehicle. It is basically purchased by men who have certain "shortcomings" they need to compensate for with a large truck, or by women who wish they were men. The only things that are worse would be the Ford Excursion and the Suburban. Then there's the Cadillac Tahoe...err... Escalade. Available in 4 wheel drive because Cadillac owners are well known for their off-road driving prowess. That's why mud bogs all over America are full of brand new Escalades.

What I want if for Volkswagen to start importing the Lupo Diesel! At 78 MPG Highway, I would very much love to own one. I drive 80-150 miles a day, every day and the money saved would be well worth it. I would also own a Japanese market KEI class car with a maximum of 660 cc's of engine. Then again, the original BMC/BL/Austin/Morris/Rover Mini from 1959-99 with it's 850cc engine, or even the Cooper S with the 1250cc engine would be so much better than anything sold new now. I may love my Musclecars, but I can't really afford to drive them daily unless I was to be homeless and just spend the money I would have put towards housing for buying gas.

PS, This is a Lupo. http://www.vwvortex.com/artman/publish/article_319.shtml

What is sad is that the 355 does better than that in my Cutlass. I have an approximation of mileage I got from driving a known distance to and from work that I had previously measured at 18.5 miles one way. I filled it, went to work and back home, then back to the same gas station that was on the way. I got 15-16 mpg. That was with an Edelbrock 600, not the Quadrajet, and without the converter lockup working. I am now hoping for 18mpg city and 25 highway once I get everything tuned and functioning properly. I now work a different job 1.7 miles away, but ironically drive more now due to the nature of the job-Pizza Delivery. Plus I commute 40 miles a week to college too.

I also wonder if anyone else has noticed a significant reduction in fuel economy since they started this whole RFG thing. My truck has gone from 23-24mpg down to 20-21 mpg now that there is ethanol or MTBE's in the gas. It has me looking for another Sentra.

I've got the worse car on gas ever sitting.
Hahahaha
1978 460 lincoln.
I think it gets 6 or 7 mpg.
I was going to use it for a derby car, just never did.
I should sell the swap to some mustang guys.
