Conversion Questions

1 do you have the transmission currently?
1A open to suggestions?
2 willing to run a hyd clutch vs mechanical?

how much HP do you plan on running? 3-400 range and 3500lb curb puts your roughly similar HP/LB as most current sedans

3650 5sp can be done, common in the 01-10 mustangs probably cheapest but that's my knowledge extent.

TKX 5sp or T6060/T56 mag would be my strong encouragement having the ODs allow for longer cruises and easier traveling. especially once HP is 3-400hp

Sick speed Monty has a nice pedal
Tick performance has nice hyd MC setup
Three pedals is very nice but also ~1000.00

One thing to add here:

If anyone here wants to go with the SSM pedal assembly, go with the universal master setup, especially if you’re going to do some spirited driving or competition.
The F body master cylinders are notorious for sticking and not moving enough fluid, and I personally don’t trust stock replacement quality right now either.

I bought a F body setup SSM pedal assembly second hand, and I’ve been kicking myself since because I didn’t know about the F body clutch master issues. It’ll run an extra $400 to get a master cylinder adapter from a place like Tick Performance.

I swapped the plastic 4th Gen F-body MC out for this when they released it few years ago.
Coupled with a McCloud HYD throughout and a Lakewood bell housing that I was originally using..
Tic built me a line to go from the MC to the -4 on the hyd T/O

What pedal setup are you running with that? I emailed Bernie about a McLeod adjustable LT1 3rd Gen MC (likely wont work) and he believes the Tick setup will interfere with the upper control arm using his F body pedal.

Holy cow that’s a lot of clearance!
Now I’m wishing I had another half a car to mock my pedal up to.

John’s pedal might be different than the SSM pedal assembly, but I don’t see why I couldn’t make my own shorter adapter block over the Tick unit.

IIRC there is/was a write up somewhere comparing John's and SSM pedal.. included X/Y charts with pedal pressure to pedal travel .. might be on MR... If it didn't get wiped from the servers 🙄🤦🏻‍♂️

the biggest thing I remember is the SSM pedal works similar to a compound bow does with draw weight holding power.. after X distance of draw you only need a fraction of the weight to hold it drawn.

I can verify that with mine, takes a few pounds to compress, gets way easier about halfway down.

I tried finding the charts you mentioned, but came up empty. I did find pictures of John’s setup, and it’s super simple. I think I’ll just try making an adapter plate to fit an aftermarket MC for the current pedal assembly, as I have my doubts that I can sell it for even close to what I paid for it 😅

Apologies for the thread derailment, btw!

I can pull it off and take a couple pictures with a framing square if you're looking to duplicate
