Cooling Fans

I used the twin chrysler fans but I found they pull way too much power. The perma cool fans will run with 15 amp fuses

I currently use my FAST EFI ECU and Edelbrock Pro-Flo-4 ECU's to control my fans, but before i had the aftermarket EFI i used a few controllers.

my first setup:

Derale Performance 16789 Hi-Amp Adjustable Dual Fan Control Thrmstat (Thread-in probe)
-- overall this worked pretty good, but they hard-wired the temp sensor to the ECU.... without a way to disconnect it. this worked and only gave me a few problems. the temp sensor developed a short after a while and i ordered the painless f5 controller.

Derale Performance 16927 HO Dual RAD Fan Assembly
-- the fans were good but the paint came off the shroud pretty quick, began to rust, and looked like crap.

2nd setup:

champion aluminum radiator and fan/shroud assembly
-- no problems with performance of the fan assembly, installed and never had any other issue... the shroud wasn't put on their jig square and the edge of the metal isnt parallel with the bends, but its not the end of the world and for the price its hard to beat. the champion radiator cap is junk and i could see steam leaking out right off the bat, order a real one from stant and problem fixed

painless 30140 F5 dual fan controller
-- best one i've seen / used. after install 0 issues... notice they use a real temp sensor with a factory style connector. i noticed this specific item isnt for sale anymore unfortunately.

I have two 13” spal qualifier fans (s-blade). becool radiator. They bring temp right down. Have used all 3 temp senders and find with 185/165 and 195/175 seem to always be running and 210/190 lets engine have higher heat cylces than id like. honestly hate the setup and am going back to mechanical fan n thermal clutch. more consistent temps. More piece of mind but hey.

My GP is amost ready for the road to test the Fast EFI 1.0, how accurate and dependable is the Fast ECU for controlling the fan.

i've had 0 issues with it... I have to confess that i am running the Fast EZ EFI 2.0, and am not familiar with the 1.0. however you can set the temp the 1st fan kicks on at, then the 2nd fan temp and there is an input to the ECU for air conditioning which kicks them both on.

Do they cool as well? A lot of the aftermarket fans draw low power for a reason, they don't cool well.

Is this the old throttle body setup without timing control? I think most of the EFI setups have good, accurate fan control.

I think the saying was if you are not pulling amps you are not pulling air.

Thanks, nice to see the ECU is dependable, the 1.0 unit I have has one fan control, I guess they figure I don't have enough power to need two fans......😡

I have an adjustable controller for my second fan...

Well, you can always use your single ground output to control two relays....

And BTW: which model are these PermaCool fans you keep mentioning?
