A bucket of sh*t...

Amazingly I haven't used a power tool yet - not sure if I am regretting that decision or not.

What my wife thinks we have for safety standards in the garage when I am working:

This sums up her reaction to the Varsol from the other day:

She is the Princess and I am the Scoundrel.

Had to take a big tactical pause while I sorted out the lack of 220v reach to the back of the car. I tried making an extension cord and after hours of preparing it came to the embarassing realization that the dryer plug was not the same as the welder - even with the fourth prong cut off. I was not impressed.

A quick search online revealed that the usual scum bags wouldn't be able to have a 3/8 welder extension cord to the house until just before New Year's. Wonderful.

So I begrudgingly ran to the Tractor Supply Store and dropped $125 on another 25 foot extension cord. Mostly because I hate going out right now...

Cleaned up the garage before diving in to doing some actual work on this car.

All of the residual rustproofing between the seams has made welding a bit of a challenge even with flux core and some serious settings. Stuff gets all hot and melty, and seeped into the weld puddle.

Every time it caught on fire I felt my inner Beavis come alive.

Can you tell the factory birdshit welds from mine? Thankfully, these new welds are mostly just to keep things from shifting or springing apart once the outer frame rail gets cut off - even after I build up the inside. Because you never know.

Also, this welding apron is a life (and ball sack) saver. The amount of spatter and beebees it caught made it almost enjoyable to be under there. Almost.

Eat a d!ck 2020!

Merry Christmas you filthy animals!

Part of frame notch preparation?

Part of frame notch preparation?

Indeed. I need to duplicate this on the other side and then I can start fabricobbling in the new stuff on the inside. That material should burn in fine as it will all be on clean steel. These welds are precautionary.
