Sorry to continue to disappoint guys... this turned out kinda okay too.

Made a flanged recess in the first panel to accept the next one.

This picture gives a pretty good perspective on just how much everything is getting moved inboard.

I am feeling very motivated after watching this:

All the fab work is pretty cool!

Weld rts's can make anything look fantastic.

Well suddenly I don't feel so bad about (some of) my welds... or approach to fabrication (hammer go smash!):

Should be back on the fabri-wagon tomorrow after I am done relearning about why war crimes are bad...

All's fair?

The catch-all is "military necessity". It's why using an untested capability that ends a conflict can be used once... and then everyone agrees not to do that again.

The future scares me.

Getting the wheel tubs back in this car is being a right treat. Compensating for moving everything inboard 2 inches and making room for a 29-30" tall tire is more challenging than I was thinking in my head. Ended up cutting out more of the package tray brace than I had originally intended/desired. But it is what it is.

I sectioned the hinge box to make room for the tub to pass by. It is about a half inch shorter in the back now. Getting the factory brace that mounts to the tub was a joy... thanks to four awkwardly placed spot welds.

Once that was done I needed to cut 50+ inch long 2.75" strips to fill the void. Mr. Plasma Cutter took care of that in seconds. Such an amazing tool. Then it was just a matter of flanging the car, tub, and filler strip... After stripping the rubberized coating.

Someone was learning about body saws when he cut this line... while drunk.

One interesting problem I overcame was how to keep the tub supported in the right location and from falling on my head. To achieve this I made a tool - a flat strip with a section of 2" OD pipe welded on. This simulates the worst case tire location once the frame is notched.
