I’ll never understand why everyone just boxes in the openings squared off like that. It wouldn’t take much more work to taper them in gradually like factory past the wheel tub so you’re still not losing any tire real estate. It would look more natural and less like an afterthought IMO.
To each their own I guess.

Time.

I had originally planned to do something more fancy but life has been pretty far up my *ss lately. So the extra time it would take isn't there for the immediate return and the compounding demands on my time are astronomical.

Case in point: the time I could have used to do a more complete job over the last few days was spent building one of these monstrosities on Friday for my kids:

And about four hours yesterday diagnosing a bad starter on the TBSS (which is a very invasive job to fix)... before I said "F it" to doing anymore homework and pounded out what you see above. I still have to make up that homework today.

I can always revisit the frame later. But, for now it functions and it is off my mind.

Just wanted to point out that you need more bars to keep kids inside there 😉

Figured you musta not noticed :blam:

There is an electrified steel net that you haven't seen yet. It's a two stage trap. First make them like it, then make it permanent.

Put the seat belts back in, torqued the lugs, wiped it off, and went for a ride around the block and out on to the street. Nothing fell off. It is still sketchy AF when not on drag radials.

I was laughing hysterically.

I am going to call it "Two Tone Malone" until it gets painted.

Ooooo-Wee those tires are close on the outer opening. Lookin tight (well done)!

The rear is wildly close. I can barely squeeze my finger tips in there. The front is begging for some 315s... hmm...

So the Volvo PS pump showed up today, complete with a bonus $100 charge at the door from UPS. Fine, whatever, its here now. Per the linked threads above the default pressure is under 1100psi which is perfectly fine. It will run continuously once triggered (ignition source activated). The thing is it doesn't really need to be running constantly once the car gets moving, so I got to thinking why not have a speed sensitive trigger? Figure it could be done with a GPS... But, how?

Quick search found this: https://cam-do.com/blogs/camdo-blog/how-to-trigger-your-gopro-using-gps-arduino-microcontroller

I guess I could use an RPM trigger too. Maybe a Winter-time project.

Running three wires is easy enough, but I also have to address the hydraulics. Especially the pressure side. Fortunately this thread cleared up the adapter sizes I need: https://gbodyforum.com/threads/saginaw-power-steering-box-fittings.79967/ Which are 16mm at the pump and 18mm at the box for anyone looking to do this.

Baby steps.

Put the crackpipe down, Mike. I get it, but there's a fine line.
