So I started today's festivities by printing off wiring schematics, guides, and pinouts and fitting them neatly into a binder. Much of this came from LT1swap.com. It pays to be well organized.
After that I went into the garage and drug out the massacred harness from the Dog's Breakfast 5.3L. The seller chopped it in half by the PCM and the fuse block. The good news it came with the fuse block which my 4.8L did not. So I tore it down and cleaned it up.
Intially I was thinking of reusing the truck fuse block (went so far as to tear it down and clean it) until I went to the shelf and found a more compact GM fuse block. I think it came from a J-body.
First thing I did was organize and mark all of the existing circuits, and then I started adding in all the missing leads to build in provisions for all the things I need immediately and room for future expansion. In order to do that I had to rape another fuse block for parts/leads - this was particularly important for the MEGA fuses.
Not sure I am ever going to need a 60A ABS fuse... but it is there (maybe use it for the E-fan feed). I also added a 30A and 40A MEGA fuse that were missing, I will add the missing relays too.
You can see the advantage of the smaller fuse panel as it excludes much of the needless truck accessories.
I am certain those AUX posts will come in handy too.
Spagetti soup.
I am going to need a nice thick rope to hang myself with.
