Won't help on a 4.8/5.3. that sholder is the actual deck surface that lines up with the cylinder. They were putting those heads on a 6.0. I'm guessing the tiny amount they ground out won't make a huge drop in compression but they should have cc'd the chambers before and after as well as given the calculations for compression.

Hackery.

So a few months back you may recall I de-bearinged a set of rocker arms are dropped them in some mineral spirits. With Winter now upon us and me feeling like I'm watching too much TV... it is time to build another bullet.

Bushed the rockers.

Next we port some sh*t. And then bang this 4.8L together... and maybe even swap it out for the 5.3L. 😱

Or you could get some footage of the 5.3 decimating whatever tires are on that car.

We'll see. But, the raunchy 4.8L is what I really want in the car.

I know, but the 5.3 is already there and do you really care if it blows up at this point? Send it!

Truthfully, yes - the 5.3L is essentially a baby LS6 and is intended for my wife's future '91/'92 Z28; going to either leave it N/A or put some small twins on it. Plus, this Monte is set up for max RPM (with 4.56s out back) so the 4.8L and the cam chosen lend themselves to reving to the moon. Watch and see what parts go into it over the next few weeks.

What's a stock 4.8 bottom end realistically live to? I know there was that one that was about a thousand but that was on a stand. I think most people draw the line at 600 wheel because of the rods unless the 4.8 is special with it's smaller stroke?
