Cotter Pin Alternative ?

I lost my cotter pin that holds down my throttle cable to the carburetor.

What do you guys use to temporary replace a cutter pin that you lost ?

Any hardware store should carry cotter pins. There super cheap.

Yeah I know that, but the question was what did you guys use in case you don't have one on hand, can't go buy one, and need one?

I keep a bulk assortment of things like cotter pins, common fasteners, fuses etc. in my garage. Cotter pins are one of the things that I do not reuse since they are so cheep and the results of one failing are at times great.

For an emergency get it home repair any piece of wire that fits the hole and can be bent around to hole the piece together will work. I would never trust this though.

Harbor Freight and Runnings both carry assortment boxes of these for under $4.

I used a bobby pin one time, paper clip works too. Little molding nail will work, all kinds of options

Great ideas guys. I bought cotter pins, pack of 3, for $1.29 at Home Depot.
