I had several bunks of wood products I used on the house that came from Canada. Good stuff. They would have to really step up their game on the Craftsman stuff for me to notice or consider them a viable option.

The only thing I hope they don't bring back is those awful, jamming original round head ratchets, just garbage. It tells me the product isn't selling or tariffs and tax breaks make a new facility along with US manufacturing viable. Yeah, the Husky stuff is quite good. The Chinese can build quality products IF someone is doing close quality control. I will look at buying them again in the future.

Personally, I probably already own all the hand tools I'll ever need to work on cars, etc. But being an iconic American brand, I'd still like to see it have a less sad ending.

Well let see, they get 40+ dollars for a POS china ratchet. So what will a USA one cost?

Probably more than that, but it'll be paying a living wage, with some benefits (hopefully) to a US citizen. I'm in if the quality is there.

The vast majority of my tool collection is 80s Craftsman hand tools, and a bunch of Snap-On and SK to fill in the blanks. I'm still a fan of the marque, and it'll be nice to see it manufactured in the US again.

Dont bet on it.

I guarantee that these 'NEW" Made in USA tools will be made with imported china steel.

Which in turn means china is still getting their cut.

Look at Trick Flow.

Made in USA........but why are all their rocker arms breaking/shattering????????

Oh I see..... china aluminum is being used to make them..................

We will see on this one, personally my USA craftsman wrenches are great and have been for years of working on countless cars. IF they could get all the quality's back of the old tools i would buy them again if mine wear out

Any actual source/article on this? I can't find anything besides something in May saying the planned to do this. I doubt prices would be too much higher, they would probably only do this if the price can remain close to the same/competitive, not make this move to price themselves out of the market.

For suspension/UMI, it seems most aftermarket companies are based and make their stuff in the USA. Global West, Speedtech, etc. (just thinking of who I've purchased parts from in addition to UMI). I'm sure they want to make it in the USA but also don't know if they make enough quantity that having it done overseas makes sense for them either.

I haven't seen an update since the May announcement, but I wasn't aware of their plans until yesterday.

This is a good read....

There are several other articles from the same timeframe. Just Google "Stanley Black and Decker Fort Worth"
