Crate engine recommendation

I would just go with a hydraulic roller instead of the base flat tappet cam. Actually a little surprised GM is still selling them.

It's all about the $$$$.

Not even 5 years back you could get the brand new crate 350/290hp on sale periodically on ebay for $850-900. Free shipping in lower 48, no sales tax.

Now, same engine, same specs, is often around $3200, sometimes shipped free but always sales taxed.
