Hi, G-Body Cousins!
I have an ‘84 Caprice, 305 engine. The headlights, dash, interior lights, and horn aren’t working. From what I’ve been reading it’s most likely one of the fusible links that comes off the starter. Would that be correct? Also, if it’s a bad f-link, would it emit a burning smell before going out—the smell might just be a bad valve cover gasket.

You have all the symptoms of a bad feasible link.
Next step is to get a multimeter out and check them. Hopefully it’s not too cold out where you are and you can get underneath the car.

Thank you for your reply!
I’m in Los Angeles, so the weather isn’t an issue—my apologies to those elsewhere—the issue is getting under the car. Even with plenty of jack stands, I’d be too afraid to get under it, so to the mechanic it goes, but I can direct him to look at the f-link instead of doing various wiring checks—charges by the hour!
