don't agree .i didn't have to do that on my exhaust .

Well according to your avatar pic, your car looks like it's sitting higher than most. On my car ( and many others ), if my exhaust was like yours it would get crushed easily. Also depends on the exhaust size too.

Think about it, If having your exhaust pipes going under an unnotched crossmember is the correct way of doing it, there wouldn't be aftermarket 'dual hump' crossmembers, not to mention factory dual hump crossmembers on some older cars.

My point is, if you want to do it, then do it the right way so you don't have to redo it later. Doing it 'wrong' can still work, but doing it right just works better. I mean you can call a Fullback dive on 3rd and long and get the first down, but I wouldn't call that the right play call if you really wanted that first down and I certainly wouldn't recommend other teams run that play in the same situation.

well when i dropped the engine in my car,it had a 307 but i put a 403 in it. i didnt do any thing to the suspension. i had to add air shocks to the back to level off the car my front end sits high.but when i had an 81 cutlass it did sit lower i as well had the same place put the exhaust on it as well and it did sit lower but never had a problem with it hitting or crushing.

There's absolutely no way I could have run duals with the headers, they dump right before the crossmember, so I notched it. Here are some pics. Took about two hours to do.

I did mine last week on a th350 stock crossmemeber for dual exhaust, took me about 5 hours to do..was so easy to do. the cutting took 10 mins, i just had to find sheet metal, but i found it, welding time was another 20 mins and done...primer/paint and clears my exhaust...in the last pics u cant see my pipe was flattened by my exhaust guy just to make it work at that time...but since im installing electric cut outs, thats where my cut outs are going to go, cutting the flatten pipe and insert the cut out then weld, the other side there no problem...i have an extra 2004r crossmember if u have a 2004r transmission...i can do the job for u and ship...let me know pm me

I'm not into putting a cheby in my olds.
Although a cheby would have been a hell if a lot cheaper.
