Yeah, really. Have you ever wondered why they stay under 200mph? What happened to all the anti-lift flaps and all that crap they instituted years ago? Didn't seem to work so good. Granted, the cars are safer as he is still alive, but in the end, he lost it (ran out of talent). All these guys are perpetually playing with each others aero; it's ALL they do. He knew the other guy was back there because he tried to block him.

They need to get the cars out of a pack. The aero package makes this most unenjoyable type of racing me to watch - reiterate me.
Accidents of this nature are destined to happen though. The death Dale didn't make them change anything other than making the bumper cars safer. I guess that's an improvement, but I'll watch a race at Darlington, Bristol, Richmond, Phoenix, etc. over this crap anyday. And the drivers will be safer and showcase their talents.
I'd rather see 400hp 4 cylinders ran, such as in a midget, than these choked off 900hp motors.

That was one hell of a crash. The only kind of NASCAR worth watching are the road courses - real talent - seems like lower risk too.

You can't get those cars out of a big pack like that at Daytona or Talladega, because they don't have to lift off the gas. You have to make them crack the throttle to see who can build a car that handles and who has talent. Anyone can win at Daytona if they are lucky. Derrick Cope won there so that should tell you something.

Well, they don't stay below 200 mph lined up together so I'm not sure what you're referring to. I've seen cars flip at a lot lower speeds than that at my local short track. The roof flaps are to help not a guarantee.
Absolutely he was blocking. Newman got crashed because Blaney hit him off-centre more to the left. He was just a passenger at that point.
If you ever get rear-ended, be sure and tell your insurance adjustor it was your fault.

The biggest problem with plate racing is that fans are gonna cry and moan either way. Either it's too boring or it's too dangerous. There's no way to take the danger out.
As for getting rid of the bumping....might as well just take the tracks off the schedule. No bumping means more checking up, more checking up means more crashes, more crashes increase the chances of us having this conversation again.
And no, I'm not advocating taking away these tracks, Talladega is on my bucket list. Just gotta be willing to accept that things like this are bound to happen unfortunately. Any driver will tell you that.
