I have a question. I know this is a G body of the month post...But since the topic is original and or original appearing. I want to show my car next year once the interior is all finished and I want to know if you guys think I can put it in a stock class? It is an original V-8 4 speed car. But the V-8 grew a bit and the 4 speed is not original (M-21 now). It has an upgraded rear end, all GM of course (12 bolt). The body and interior are completely stock with the exception of the wheels. Which are still GM and stock appearing. No lumpy hood..just a stock hood too. So do you think I will get docked real bad in a stock class? I know I stand no chance in a modified class. I had it out twice last year and that was just at the local weekday car show and shine.

I know the show you are talking about..the West Point last fling til spring. I missed that show this year...The guy I talked with said it would quailfy for that show in a stock class but he didn't know how each judge would look at the car. There in lies the problem. The old catch 22!! I was always curious what types of cars were in the stock 80s class at that show? Do you know what won last year? Isn't the class broke down into something like 76-84 stock?

I've been there with my car for the past few years. I have always been in the modified class though. I know for my class this year it went, Cutlass, Impala, some pontiac thing i've never heard of, then myself. Due to the weather there were only four of us in the class and apparently supposed to be eight cars there. As far as the stock class. I don't remember my age group altough I feel like is 78-83 or something. I would say the stock class is harder to place than the modified class

The tc1959 78 El Camino gets my #1 and supkylesup's Cutlass is a very close #2. Although it would be difficult to chose between the two.

Nice cars guys.........

I would say '78 is right. Any of the larger shows with knowledgeable judges will probably slaughter it. However, I have seen a few shows where the judges only seemed to care about stock LOOKING cars.
