speedkills80 said:I have a question. I know this is a G body of the month post...But since the topic is original and or original appearing. I want to show my car next year once the interior is all finished and I want to know if you guys think I can put it in a stock class? It is an original V-8 4 speed car. But the V-8 grew a bit and the 4 speed is not original (M-21 now). It has an upgraded rear end, all GM of course (12 bolt). The body and interior are completely stock with the exception of the wheels. Which are still GM and stock appearing. No lumpy hood..just a stock hood too. So do you think I will get docked real bad in a stock class? I know I stand no chance in a modified class. I had it out twice last year and that was just at the local weekday car show and shine.
I feel your pain. Everything on my car is period and/or "stock GM" (or dealer installed..t-tops) except for the radio, edelbrock intake and the exhaust pipes manifold-mufflers. When I had her in shows I entered it in the 'stock' class. I'd get the occasional 'hmph that ain't stock' but for the most part everyone "got it." Unless you're entering in a true concours style class where every little thing counts, or dealing with some real anal retentive types, I wouldn't sweat it. If they b*tch about it, walk them over to the nearest tricked out chrome-plated treefity and explain the difference.
My dad (and I) back in the day (mid-late '80s) did the same thing with "The Dragon Wagon", our 402BB, factory bucket seat, factory 4-spd '80 Malibu wagon 😀 The thing looked like it came from the factory with the BB, A/C, ...and a 9C1 police order speedo 😉 after he broke the 80mph one trying to clock it against his buddy's '78 T/A Won tons of trophies with that thing, too. (sigh, where are you now dragon wagon... 😢 and no I don't have pix)
