Dome light on all the time????

Do yal know where the wires go from the door jamb switch? I have a feeling the previous owner may have clipped the wires somewhere deep under the dash. There is no current on the wires that plug into the door jamb switch.
these wires, usually white, are ground wires. you won't have voltage on them.

Actually, they do have 12v on them backfeeding through the bulb. Grounding them completes the circuit.
The wires are in the kick panel. They exit high, above the dash mounting bracket, a few inches below the A-pillar.

well that's gonna be a headache. do these switches sometimes stop working? can i bridge the connection to see if its working? like sort of bypassing the jamb switch.

The switches self adjust the first time you shut the door, and the contacts do get dirty. They are still available new. The white wire is common to the underdash courtesy lights and the dome light, also making an appearance at the headlight switch. As long as the bulbs are good and the orange is powering the circuit, groundingthe white should turn on the lights.
