Greetings G-Body community.

I'm in the process of the collecting parts to build a G-body Cutlass. Goal is a budget build with an Olds 350 or 403 (really leaning towards the 403) and I want it to be a manual trans car. This will be street cruiser not a track car.

I've found a cheap Doug Nash 4 + 3 from a C4 Corvette for sale locally.

From what I gather this is basically a T-10 4speed with an electrically actuated overdrive. I know that G-bodies (techincally A-bodies?) came with 4spds in a few early cars, but was the Saginaw 456. What I'm trying to figure out is why can't I find any info about swapping this trans into a G-body? To me it seems easier than a T-5 swap....

If anyone has attempted this swap let me know; or if you know why it's a bad idea I'm keen on listening.

TIA

BTW I'm new to this Forum but I've built a few cars and Jeeps over the last 20 years; this'll be my first Gbody build though.
Just sold my last project:

Don't see why you couldn't. Gbodys aren't much less crude than Jeeps.
I remember hearing that the overdrive unit could be fragile but the T10 should be up to the task. My dad had a couple 4+3 Corvettes back in the day. Never any trouble. I remember that they would downshift out of OD under WOT. You might have to get creative to keep that function.

The shifter position will likely be farther back than the location on a Saginaw which might mandate bucket seats. Other than that, I don't see why it can't be done. I'm not very familiar with that trans. (4+3) but the T-10 swap has definately been done.

Looks like some tunnel surgery may be required.

Thanks for all the rapid replies! I'll probably pass on the 4 + 3 and hold out for a T-5...

I have a T5 for my car. I'm going with the 83 Camaro bellhousing that works with mechanical clutch linkage. The trans will be tilted over, just like in a Camaro. My trans is out of a 91 Iroc Z.

I seriously considered putting a 4+3 in my pickup but the dinky cab and bench seat made shifter placement a real concern. Ended up going with an overdrive A833 (GM RPO MY6) because I could mount the shifter further forward and I'm relatively certain that I won't be able to break it. WC T5 would have been plan B.

Im pretty sure there's a guy here - that goes by the name "Guy" - that has a Doug Nash trans in his built big block Monte SS. Hopefully he chimes in....
