So I bought a nice frame but as you can see here a lot of the metal has been removed from these spring pockets. Any ideas about how to make this solid and safe again? I assume I will just have to weld some metal in. I have to get springs first for fitment. But I thought I would ask if anyone has any brilliant ideas?

Get a piece of pipe of the same diameter, cut out a small piece of it and glue it in there. There is virtually no stress on that area. It’s only to hold the spring in place. Or just weld in 2 or 3 tabs where they are missing to hold the top of the spring.

It was cut out for a swap to coil overs. Have you considered going to coil overs?
Kit's with a constant diameter spring require this clearancing.
