If your changing the pedal assembly, it may be worthwhile to undo the pedal to give you more room to figure out how to tackle it.
I’ve got the assembly disconnected from everything but the cable connection in the last pic

That last pic almost looks like the clip holding it might be on the outside of the firewall, not in the cab? Not sure? Mine was removed already when I replaced mine.

In my last pic, if you enlarge on the cable end. You’ll see there are 2 metal rings below the cable end. Different than the last vid with the hose clamp

When I get home later I'll see how mine are attached to my 78 & 79 parts cars. Maybe something will help.

I think one of them may had a clip holding it in. But yours looks like it was replaced at some point and isn't original.

That wouldn’t surprise me at all. I had a major problem with my windshield wiper motor, nothing available was the same as what was in the car. As said already this kind of crap really frustrates me.

My cable and pedal are removed already.

Picture of the end of the cable.

Picture of where it belongs.

It looks to me like some type of clip should hold it in.

Three bolts hold the entire pedal assembly to the body. Maybe drop the whole pedal down to be able to get a better look.

Pedal pic for reference.

The only other way I could see it staying there without some type of clip is if it's cocked slightly sideways and it's hanging on the lip of the end of the cable.

If that's the case, I would think a screwdriver or pliers wiggling the end of the cable might free it.
