Hello, I have this delema with my wiper motor...So I had it tested with a friend of mine thats an car electrian, and he tested the wiper motor and told me that the motor was bad and that I needed a switch to get it going. I went to Autozone and bought a brand new wiper motor and a new turn signal switch that controls the wiper motor and signals my turn lights, I think you guys know what I mean and installed it. But thats not the switch he was talking about, i think he said it goes below the sterring colum?????

He did mention to me that I was missing a switch, but he never told me what switch, he was the only one that knew what switch to get...!!!!!! LOL...

Hes (locked up)!!!!! (Great)!!! and I dont want to an Electric shop and have them charge me alot of $$$, if its going to be an easy fix.

Is there anyone out there that can hook me up with some info and let me know what I need to get it going.

Sounds like he SHOULD be locked up. There is no wiper related switch under the column. The wiper switch is on the dash in 80' right? Or is it a different year car or column? The switch and the motor are not usually replaced together, but since you have both new, what's the problem? Motor tests OK? White wire is power,is fuse OK? If it's a column mounted switch, did you get the right one? There are 8 types, 83' and below-standard non-tilt, standard tilt, delay non-tilt, delay tilt, 84' and up-standard non-tilt, standard tilt, delay non-tilt, delay tilt . 83'-84' do not interchange at all.

Its a 1980...Yes it is on the column on top of the tilt lever, he only test the motor with a battery and told me that the motor wasent working. The MOTOR should be working since its new and been replaced.

As for the the right kind of column switch ......I really dont know I only got what i was suppose to get from the specs of my car, its the one that dosent have the wire connected to it ..not unless the column was updated to a newer verion, but i doubt it, it was all origianl when i got it..Posted some pics...

But I have not checked the white wire..... where is that connected to, there are so many white wires under the column to tell you the truth..lol......is it on the column? or the wiper motor? wheres trhe white wire? lmao...
Im pretty sure the fuse is ok..will it say" wiper motor" on the fuse box?

HELP...its going to start raining soon....lol...and this is driving me krazy!@

Were the wipers working OK before or is this a recent purchase and you're not sure? According to my 80' Chevy factory manual, the wiper switch is on the dash, right by the headlight switch, so you may have a later column. It may not be compatible with your wiper motor as 83' and down are different from 84' and up. As I said, there are 8 different switches. The pics you show are the stalks, not the wiper switch and the wire is for the cruise control which was offered on the column, but not the wipers. That is inside the column, buried under the directional switch and steering wheel. Did you bury down to it or just change the stalk? To test the wiper motor, get under the hood and find the white wires in the harness at the motor. It gets 12 volts in "run". Ground the grey wire and it should work. Is it a delay wiper or standard? Your pics are for later delay type. Look at your motor, is there a green wire and is it hooked to a connector? That's for delay, verify by pulling the cover and there should be a curcuit board underneath. Look under the dash for the column connector. 5 wires or 4 ? A green? Or just black, grey, purple and pink?

Yes the motor is working, just tested it... theres a 4 wire connector connected to motor and another 3 wire connector as well...know checking the fuse, its not lighting up when i check it with tester...i put a light on it to get a better look and it kinda looks burned out where the fuse go into...i took the fuse out and tried to test it without the fuse and still no light...thats where i think he wastelling me about a switch that goes under column...there are so many wires under the column i dont know what is what.lol....

do i need a new curcit board...i mean it doent look that burnt out, but does look alittle black and looks loose where the fuse goes into....how can i get around this....HELP!!!!

there are two plugs that go into a reciprocal mounted on the steering column and another harness from the column that plugs into a connector that is not mounted on the column....are all those plugged in securely

I check the plugs that I can see and yes they look all intact... I check the connectors on the motor and they look and seem to work just fine...I tested the motor and yes it does work...and i dont know which plugs go into the column because its not dis·as·sem·ble, its all intacted....The onlt thing that i can see is that there is probley no power from the fuse box to the wiper motor... Like i said in the above spread, its looks alittle burned out and the fuse is a little loose...I hope I dont need to replace the hole fuse box???????
