most (smart=non ignant) people would never run ONLY antifreeze nor for that matter, add laundry detergent to their cooling system!
Unless they had dirty clothes in the radiator.....

i just thought yer not supposed to use just water in yer engine because itll freeze and crack yer block and/or pop out the freeze plugs, and would suck to have to deal with every winter. if yer in an emergency situation i know water is ok, but then ya gotta drain it out and get the proper 50/50 mix. the fan setup i have in my elky is one 2800-3000 cfm fan i got from o'rileys and i also have a 180ºF thermostat, and my car holds steady at ~195. when i had a 190º thermostat my car would always over heat, so swapping the thermostat to a lower temp one.

Race engines run hot...no debate about that. But they have heavy duty radiators, cooling fans, hoses, pumps, etc. And since they are running at 100+mph, theyre able to cool the water down quickly, else they'd explode like a steam engine!

correct... the instructions say that after 50/50 mixture, there is a opposite effect. The temperature range gets shorter and shorter

true, the point is antifreeze lubricates and may raise the boiling point of water but it does not help with dispensing of the heat of the engine. I would rather use the space that antifreeze takes to use water along with the water wetter to lubricate the system. I use antifreeze in her when I store her for winter, then I flush that out in the spring.

Do they make a product that makes water.......wetter, keeps the engine from freezing or boiling over AND is good at getting grass stains out? If not, may i introduce you to the next up and coming very successful multi-million dollar entrepreneur.

By raising the boiling point, the water remains a liquid instead of a gas, which requires a lot more surface area to cool. Also, local hot spots in the engine can create cavitation and actually bore holes in the block/head. Water must remain in its liquid state to do the job of cooling, so the boiling point has to be higher than the hottest average temp of the engine....water wetter allows the water to absorb more heat, but does nothing to raise the boiling point of the water itself.

as i understand it, watter wetter reduces the surface tension of water, therefore making it less abrasive as it passes through the engine and in turn dropping the boiling point.

Yep....its call MoonShine!...or White Lightin....or Corn Liquor.....or......lol And, for some reason, we outlawed it!

Water itself isnt abrasive. When it boils in spots, the temp differences make the metal weak and create cracks that lead to holes. Water wetter will not hurt, but I wouldnt bank on it as the cure all. Distilled water has no minerals which is the leading cause of internal engine coolant corrosion. Most, if not all, antifreeze brands have anti-surfactants mixed in to help the water do a better job of removing the heat, along with lubricators for the pump and anti corrosives for the rest of the system. Water works great, but IMO, it has its limits and is not a better choice than a mix of all the ingredients we have discussed.
