Edit: last two letters on that pad aren't "dz"...

Look like "AX"???

Also, in your first blurry pic there will be a date case into the block. Will narrow down the year your you.

It looks like a round circle

Right, the 327 and 350 both had a 4" bore. The 327 had a 3.25" crank where the 350 had a 3.48". But worst case its a large journal 327 crank, in a 350 block. Being that the 327 was only 69 before being phased out, I would almost bet its a 350.

And the early 1969 302s were cast using the 3932386 blocks, which were still in use at the engine plants at the end of 1968....

350 block! Guts can be changed! 305 or 350 crank drops in if it turns out you have 327 guts. If it is a 4-bolt block, even better.
First question: what are the emission requirements in your town/county? That will determine what you can do with it. Also, has it been bored before? Before you spend much on reworking the heads, check the casting numbers. If they are nothing special, consider buying new GM Vortec heads and an aftermarket intake to match. Smaller chambers than most smog heads, so instant compression increase. I'd avoid going above 10:1 so you can keep running regular unleaded.

I can't read it. You might consider pulling the alternator to get a better look at it, if you want to know what it was in the beginning. It doesn't look like it's been decked so maybe it hasn't been built? What do you know about it?

BOUGHT THE CAR FOR 300$ GUY THAT USED TO HAVE JUST USED IT TO HAUL SCRAP.
THAT IS ALL I KNOW. I'LL DO SOME MORE DIGGING. THANK YOU ALL

Pop a valve cover and get a head casting number too just for kicks. That engine really could be anything at this point but odds are its just a run of the mill low compression truck 350. The 010 block was very common but considered a decent one. IIRC it has a somewhat higher nickel content. The ID pad behind the alternator will tell you where it originated but after 40+ years, all bets are off as to what's been done to it.

Originally a 1979 truck engine. 165 horse. I see you've torn it down, at least partially. Any numbers stamped on top of the pistons?

There could be a chance it's a '70 (255 HP, 2wd truck with auto or 4wd with 3 speed stick.)
V0113: V-Flint engine, 01-Jan, 13-13th
To figure out the cast date to fund the year, look for a casting numbers like this: X000. The letter is the month, next two numbers is the day, the third is the year. With a 9 for the year, months H, I, J, K, L (possible M) would be a early date '70. A, B, C, D, E, F, G would be for '79. If you find a 0 or 8 for the year it's simple, '70 or early '79.
