Well, duh. Look at the exhaust ports, and it's not a big block.
How about here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/MARINE-Ford-351W-5-8-Short-Block-1975-1983-Reverse-Rotation/251268281985
Shipping may be a deal breaker, but I bet an automotive 351 Windsor block will work...the yards ought to have one of those...it looks like you kept the lifters sorted by cam lobe, can they be re-run?
He got a quote yesterday from the local machine shop that was outright ridiculous. We're looking for a bare block to machine for the new-ish .030 over pistons then swap everything over with new rings and bearings. If nothing turns up we can always swap in the engine from the blue boat but it's got quite a few hours on it. I'd rather see him sell it off.
The bottom end on the red boat looks pretty recent and I'll bet the heads have under 20 hours on them. If we can get a suitable replacement block it'll be a much nicer end product.
I guess it doesn't really matter all that much since he doesn't plan to keep it.

I guess the decision has been made to just do a swap. He's got the engine out of the blue one now and it'll get dropped in the red one as soon as a new set of freeze plugs show up.

While it was out he put some beefier lags in the mounts and added some straps to tie into the sides of the stringers.

Hopefully it'll be wrapped up soon and I can take care of a few projects of my own. Maybe after the first of the year.

Meanwhile up on the hillside...

...not much has changed. Should look significantly different in a week or so.

I'm glad it looks good from your end. It feels like it's taking an eternity over here. I really miss having work space and kind of feel like I'm pissing away the year. After the holidays progress on the house should pick up and I'm hoping to start on a project to enjoy next summer.
Be patient but stay tuned.

Talked to my buddy last night. I have the opportunity to buy this '77 Impala pretty cheap. His parents bought it new, he had it for a while then sold it to a friend who did a bunch of work to it before eventually ending up back at my buddy's house in possession of his stepson. Stepson needs cash and I'm really tempted.
It's fairly unique in the respect that it's an Impala but came with a 250-6 in it, which it still has. The previous owner set it up with dual Mikunis. Anyway, now it needs some work and clean up after being owned by a non-mechanically inclined teenager for a couple years.
Here's the only photo I have from about 4 years ago.

It's not as shiny and has different wheels now. Should I save it?

Do it, these are what I see as the last sporty looking B bodies cause that back window. They scream for a BBC, do have stronger rear axle options, police upgrades for better brakes & suspension.

Yeah, whatever that wraparound back window is called. I've known this car for over 20 years and I'd love to get it back in shape. Not necessarily for the profit, but because the car deserves better than it's received over the last few years.
