Okay class, can anyone tell me what's going on here?
If you guessed that I hit a hellacious pothole and broke a leaf spring, see me after class for your gold star.
I was going through Pendleton, hoping to see my uncle at his shop, when I snagged an unmarked, bottomless pit with the right trailer wheel. It hangs out about 6" wider than my car's track width. Smoke immediately started rolling out from the tire that was then rubbing the fender. Since the main leaf broke forward of the axle, the shackle was doing nothing to locate it. I jacked it up and used 2 spare ratchet straps to pull it forward and act as trailing arms. Then I wedged 2 2x4s between the axle and frame. Hardtail conversion complete. It got me the 200+ miles home. I'll have to source new springs but it'll be an easy fix.
