UPS guy brought the Vortex for my Creedmoor build. Goal is to ring the 1000 yard gong. View attachment 117590

I'd really like to get out and break it in this week but I really need to focus on yard work. In fact, there are a couple others I've been messing with that I need to try out too. My priorities are all screwed up.
You're giving me more motivation to build one. All of mine are 5.56 & i really need a .308 in the collection. I'd be happy with 600 yards as I tend build mine more of a "buisness" set up from personal experiances.

Check out Live Free Armory in Florida for a AR10 style

Very very nice for the price

I like building my "evil dirty bad" AR's myself. There are nice ones that are turn key but like being a gear head it's nice to do it your way. I built one for a friend & fellow combat vet. We were looking at stuff at a local gun show & the vender asked why we wanted a certain feature & we looked at each other & said "cause we can." To this day he still wishes that rifle was the one the Army issued to him on duty.

Lego guns are kind of addictive. If you go down the 80% rabbit hole it gets even worse.
Generally speaking, I'm a believer in consolidated calibers. In fact, I'm considering dumping what's left of my 7.62x39 because I just don't shoot SKSs anymore. To date, all my 15 builds have been 5.56 with the exception of a 6.8SPC upper I have setup for hogs (kind of a long, disappointing story there). This 10 build is Creedmoor because it cost the same as .308 and is somewhat purpose built. I've got an M77 All Weather in .308 that I've put maybe 10 rounds through in the last 5 years (another long story).
I'm certainly no snob so there's a mix of brands and vendors and most of it is mid-grade stuff. There was a lot of industry ramp-up 2 years ago and I'll admit that I took advantage of some of the deals. Even more so after 11/'16.
There still seems to be plenty of deals out there but not like a year ago. Lots of small vendors went under because they overextended.

Nailed it. Fun to build. Infinite options. And most importantly, because I can.

What ever became of that Datsun wagon you were working on?

I do like building my own as well, but when it comes to the AR10's none of them are mil spec

So peicing them together is not always the best route.

Yup. Luckily I figured all that out before I bought anything. I went with Aero upper on a JMT lower. Great fit.
