Ethanol the constant battle...

That is a common problem with the accelerator pump. I have seen one from an old kit get eaten away completely in about 2 months. He drove the car the first 5 weeks then went on vacation so he parked it. The car would not start up when he returned.

I have had some ethanol problems, it damaged the acceleration pump in my Qjet, replaced it with a higher quality one. Also had ethanol damage the needle valve in my Farmall ' s carb, make it sticky.

Had the same problem with my 2 Barrel Rochester, had to use the drop of oil trick to get her home it ravages the accelerator pump in particular on mine.

To be honest, I personally have never had any ethanol related issues. It's my honest belief that ethanol has a worse reputation than it is due. Not to say bad gas is a myth, but at some car shows I hear some people talking about ethanol like it is the apocalypse. It really isn't all that bad. E10 isn't a new thing either, it's been around since before WWII. It wasn't until it was required that new cars accept ethanol that everyone threw a fit. The thing is, most cars already would readily accept ethanol, even before the requirement. I can see issues arising with things like lawn mowers or chainsaws where they aren't used often and have small amounts of gas in them that would easily absorb moisture. But in cars, I don't see it being that much of an issue. Also I see a lot of people blaming dried rubber hoses and dirt found in carbs on ethanol without any evidence. Not to say it isn't the ethanol that caused it, but I won't write it off as ethanol until I see something that would prove it was the ethanol that caused the issue. Just my .02

The way I put it can your grandma do a 100 push ups at 100? Maybe but won't last long. Today's car were designed for it old cars not so much. But if you plan on running it replace everything you can that can and will support it

I agree with you. I have run E10 in everything I have ever owned, cars, trucks, mowers, chainsaws, snowmobiles, 4wheelers, etc and have never had any issues. E15 might be an issue, but you can blame the EPA for that problem not Ethanol itself, but E10 and E5 has been in fuel for decades.

I thought my GP was running great on the E10 until I started using real gas and had to change the rods in my quadrajet to run it leaner. An air/fuel mixture gauge tells you what you can't feel

I have a friend who is now retired that owned a gas/service station for 50 years, from when they still used leaded gas to what they are currently selling. I have asked him about ethanol and he said its all a wives tale. The difference between gas that is a day old or 3 years old is hardly anything, especially when stored in larger quantities. He tells me Stabil is snake oil. All I know is I've never drained gas out of anything for storage, I've never used Stabil, and the only gas I've ever used is 87 octane E10 in everything I own, and I've never had anything run any different based on what gas is in it. I've used gas that was 2 years old and sat outside and it ran fine in my garden tractor. Every carburetor of mine I've ever taken apart was clean inside. I think any difference that anyone "notices" is just placebo effect. Again, just my .02

We have the Marine fuel at some stations that is ethanol free. It's a bit more expensive but from what I'm told worth the
price. I have had issues with my motorcycle and ethanol, but the cars and truck do not seem to be effected as much
Maybe due to a larger volume of fuel present in the tank. I rarely let my monte get below 1/4 tank before I fill it up.
I've never run it on anything but mid grade or premium fuel. I would like to try a few tanks of the non ethanol
just to see if it runs better. I'm betting it will. Also note that Stabil marine is great stuff and I use it in the lawn mower and generator when in storage even the motorcycle during the winter. Excellent 5 star.
