Ditch the electric BS that just constantly retards the timing everytime you nail the gas and you can get the carb rebuilt for 2 and change from EP!!!

I get all that.. And I said this had better be worth it, implying I AM going to do it..

It was just like sticker shock when looking at new vehicles.. I paid less for my damn House than a Decently Optioned F-250. Doesn't mean I wouldn't buy it.. Ill love the truck and hate the payment every month, and I would give it the same "This had better be worth it" when it comes to towing my toy hauler.

And I have, and do, pay Up To 20% More for something if I can use a local, brick-and-mortar business.. Sometimes more. My Exhaust is a great example - install was done 6 blocks away from my house. I paid 25% more than some other places that Aren't local..

But 60% More was a bit of a shock.

I would rather spend $325 on something that is known to be good than to take a chance on wasting $200 and dealing with alot of frustration.

5 business days and $325 for a high quality rebuild seems very reasonable to me. Even though I did a rebuild on my Q-Jet I may have EP redo it anyways just because I'm a bit leery of my own work when it comes to carbs that don't belong on lawn mowers. They are just not my area of expertise.

I'll say it till the cows come home, that is the nicest looking qjet I've ever seen.

They do good work. You can get spendy and for around $500 have it replated as well, most dont, or opt for the standard rebuild and calibration. I've bought two carbs from him (one a 17058241, my current a 17057241 I had him mod according to my engine mods, and he added a vent tube). After light tuning to get it perfect (as perfect as it can be with no afr gauge), they ran/run like fuel injection. Minus the mileage. 😀

Thats a better quote that I got from Holley for them to rebuild my 4175 to their catalog spec. Then to have it to look like/near new really pushed it up & that was almost two years ago.

Obviously yours wasn't working right because that is not how it works at all...

So hows it work then

Never heard of her.... But in all seriousness, I used Sean Murphy Induction for my Q-jet rebuild and have been more than happy. It was some years ago now, maybe 8 or so, and I spent $225 IIRC. That includes rebushing the throttle shaft, jetting and metering rods as required, gluing the welch plugs, etc
